A movie to thrill the world

Al Pacino, 79, is reported to play the role of legendary Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis in Fernando Meirelles’ upcoming biographical drama “Nemesis”. Perhaps this would be the second Scarface feeling for Al Pacino and the audience!

A couple of movies portrayed the Greek legend in the past such as The Greek Tycoon and Onassis: The Richest Man in the World and now is the perfect time for the Brazilian director is best known for his work on “City of God” and “The Constant Gardener” to make an iconic movie. Meirelles has said that the film will be similar to “The Godfather”, and have Onassis as the center of the story. “Nemesis” will be a screen adaptation of the controversial Peter Evans’s book, Nemesis: The True Story of Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought down the Kennedys.

It will be an honorable movie project for Greece as we all hope to see the filming on majestic Greek islands that Onassis adored. In addition, it is expected the Greek lifestyle and culture by which Onassis was always inspired during his life to be in the center of the project.

“Nemesis” book focuses on magnate Aristotle Onassis’ contentious relationship with Bobby Kennedy who had investigated his business practices and barred him from trading within the U.S. The writer of the book, Peter Evans, asserts that their power struggle, which also included a battle over access with Jackie O, got so heated that Aristotle eventually financed the assassination of Bobby Kennedy.
